The night before our crossing, we were gathering our paperwork together and realized we did not have Cooper The Cat rabies vaccination certificate. Now we were told we absolutely needed a current certificate and Susan informed me that the one I thought we had left in Arizona, was expired, panic in the "gray room" now! After a few minutes of me ranting incoherently, we resigned ourselves to the fact we were going to cross a day later than we thought and forfeit our payment to the RV park we were planning to stay at. We searched the internet for a vet in the area and not only found one a mile or so down the road but we were also able to book an appointment first thing the next morning!

The next morning we were able to get the certificate and made the border crossing right about when we had planned. We encountered very little traffic and were only asked where and why we going into Canada, how long we are staying, where we are exiting and if we had any handguns on board. A bit of advice, regardless how you feel about firearms, you are traveling to Canada, you are going to be a visitor in their Country, they do NOT allow handguns, do not even think about bringing one over! The pain you would suffer would be life altering. After crossing we were faced with Kilometers per hour and liters of fuel. Do you know there is a big difference between 50 KPH and 50 MPH? You would be surprised at how many cars you can pass doing 50 MPH in a 50 KPH zone! We traveled up the Canadian highway 401, through Toronto, the largest city in Canada and home to Los Angeles type traffic to overnight at the KOA in Brighton, Ontario.

Most KOA's we stay at that have a cafe serves pizza and wings. This is a chip trailer, unfortunately, it was not open yet since the KOA just opened the middle of May.

The only thing missing is the cheese curds! The Pogo looks interesting, in the States we call it a Corn Dog! Pogo is actually a brand name of a corn dog sold in Canada, the term Pogo is so commonly used that it has become a generic term for corn dogs much like we use coke for a soft drink, or xerox for a copy. It is widely used in the Eastern Provinces where we will be traveling. Another interesting note is to use your credit or debit card, you get the best exchange rate. A lot of businesses will take USD but you do not get the best exchange rate which currently is 70 cents per CnD.

After a good nights sleep with the windows open and no A/C we continued up the 401/402. Along this route there are service centers every 80 kms or so. They are called OnRoutes and have a fuel stations, usually a Tim Hortons, a small convenience store, rest rooms and a Burger King or Subway. The fueling stations are not made for large motorhomes or trucks but they do have plenty of parking for large vehicles. Just south and west of Montreal, we crossed the St. Lawrence river and headed to our destination. As we crossed into Quebec, we were greeted with signs in French. They say that God blesses everyone differently and I can assure you that neither Susan or I have been blessed with the "gift of tongues!" My attempt at French was in 8th grade and lasted two weeks before I dropped it and took another class. The only thing I learned to say was " Lilly, the tiger is hungry", now that has served me well in the last 62 years of my life! I do kind of envy those that speak two or more languages, my brain is not wired that way nor do I think it will ever be in this life or the next one.

We made it safely to our RV park and are starting to meet our fellow caravaners for what is going to be a wonderful trip. Check back soon, I am trying to update this site to allow you to "subscribe" in order to get notified when I post again. I will be posting pictures and I am sure more adventures in the North County. If you are interested, I will post our itinerary for the trip on a different tab. Stay tuned.
