As luck would have it, I woke up during the night with a horrible cough. It hadn't eased by morning when we were to board the bus so I opted to stay behind and sleep. The photos of the Church and Lighthouse were taken by others. Susan did go along and took some then her phone died.

The town is a typical Newfoundland fishing village on the most Western edge of Southern Newfoundland, fronting the Cabot Strait.

The town was so named because the Basque whalers would come here while on whaling expeditions. One lighthouse that used to guide and protect them was the Rose Blanche.

The lighthouse is the only one in Atlantic Canada that is made with granite, and the stone was quarried from nearby quarries. Although no longer in use it is still visited by thousands to view it and the surrounding area. After a quick three night stay, we packed up and headed up NFLD Highway 430 to our next stop of Cape Aux Choix. We hope to see you down the road.
