After wintering in Arizona, spending our days lounging around the pool or hot tub, playing golf (at least me, Susan has more sense than to frustrate her self!) and enjoying the activities at our RV Park, we have hit the road again. This time we are leaving the land of Hi-Jolly, traveling across the high plains in the Land of Oz to the Great Lakes, where we will cross into Canada and head for Montreal to join up with our Fantasy RV Caravan group for a 61 Day Eastern Canada adventure.
On our way north from Queen Valley, AZ, outside of Albuquerque, we passed four semi truck flatbeds loaded with elephants of all sizes, but they were all life-sized. By the time the fourth one went by we did figure out they were not real, but they sure looked it! My trusty navigator got on her phone and this is what she found out.
They were built in India out of an invasive vine they have been trying to eradicate. Each one is built to look like and is named after a real Indian Elephant at a preserve in India. The project is a fundraiser to amplify indigenous knowledge and inspire the human race to share space with the worlds wildlife. The website is www.thegreatelephantmigration.org it is a very ambitious project and the "herd" is migrating from Newport, RI to Beverly Hills with stops all over the country that is free viewing for the public. If you are interested, check out the website it is really top notch and explains the concept well. Traveling is so much better when you can use the internet while moving so one can find out what they are looking at while in motion.
On the way we stopped in Denver to visit my brother-in-law who is being hospitalized for some sepsis due to a wound on his back and foot. He is doing better but has a ways to go so any thoughts or prayers would be appreciated.
We are currently in WaKeeney, KS which is on the eastern side. We are following I-70 to Kansas City, MO where we will stay for a few days and visit the sights and also see some of our Church's historic sites. I-70 is part of the Eisenhower Interstate System, this system was started in 1956 and said to have been completed in 1992. I-70 through Kansas was completed in 1970. The Interstate System has some areas that are usable for military runways if the need for such ever occurs.
Here is a picture from the Welcome Center as we crossed into Kansas.

Stay tuned for more updates as we journey north and east. BRING ON THE LOBSTER!
