Far West is in Caldwell County, MO. about a 60 minute drive from our RV park. Far West was established just for the LDS Saints by the State in hope of avoiding any more blood shed between the "old settlers" and the newcomers from the Church. Within months, Far West was home to 1,500 people. Today the area is quiet and pretty with large farms raising corn, oats and other crops. A Temple was going to be built and the cornerstone's were laid and dedicated. The cornerstone's are all that remain today. The park is on the National Historic Register.

This is one of the four corner stones. It is protected under glass. The Saints did not get much further before they abandoned Far West for the trip across the plains and mountains to what is now Salt Lake City.

Tomorrow, we will head to Nauvoo, IL for the last stop on our LDS Church History tour. It is in Navuoo that the Saints fled from Missouri and established another community.
